Teammate

Teammate

The reasoning behind hard-won work — why one approach beat another — usually lives only in your coding sessions, then evaporates. Teammate is a skill you install into your coding agent that mines those sessions into cited facts you can ask about and share. The raw sessions never leave your machine.

A skill for your coding agent

Teammate is a small CLI harness that plugs into your coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, Pi, Cline, Roo Code and others) and connects it to your workspace. It reads your past AI coding sessions and turns the decisions in them into facts — each cited to the session it came from — grouped by codebase as projects you can query and share.

Cleaned locally, first

Everything sensitive is handled on your own machine first. The skill reads a session, cleans and redacts it locally, and only the cleaned result is mined into facts and uploaded.

  • Secrets become [REDACTED SECRET] and file paths become [REDACTED PATH].
  • Personal facts (health, family, money, travel) are tagged personal and never shared with an organization.
  • Only the cleaned, mined facts leave the laptop — the raw transcript never does.

Install it (once per machine)

The install command carries a short-lived setup link tied to your account, so you copy it from the app rather than typing it out.

  • Account menu → Teammate sessions → the Setup Teammate card.
  • With Command selected, click copy and run it in a terminal. Prefer your coding agent to do it? Choose Prompt and paste the text into it instead. The command stays valid for 6 hours and the page refreshes it by itself.
  • It installs a teammate command on your PATH that works for every project on that machine.
  • To use /teammate inside a coding agent, run teammate add-agent <agent-name> — the card shows this too. (In Cline, also turn on Settings → Features → Enable Skills.)
Separate from MCP
Teammate syncs your past sessions. Connecting your coding agent to your to-dos is a different step — see MCP.

The teammate commands

Once setup has run, a teammate command lives on your PATH. Run these in a terminal, or just ask your coding agent (“sync my sessions”, or /teammate) to do the same. None of them need your API key — only the one-time install does.

CommandWhat it does
teammate syncPick harnesses and projects and sync their sessions into projects. Add --list for a read-only inventory of what’s detected.
teammate autosync enableRegister a nightly unattended re-sync of your saved selection. Add --hour H to set the hour. (macOS and Linux; Windows isn’t supported yet.)
teammate autosync status · pause · resume · disableCheck, pause, resume, or remove the nightly job.
teammate chat --list · --project <id>List your projects (and ones shared with you), then pull one down to ask about.
It keeps itself current
The skill checks for a newer version as a side effect of normal requests and self-updates in place — there’s no update command to run.
